REPORTS TO/TERM: Dr. Peter Morikis, Superintendent, NW Indiana GEO Schools This is a 12-month position. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: A Director of Special Education will perform the following duties: • Keep the SPED program compliant with the state of Indiana • Maintain Indiana state reporting data • Maintain PowerSchool data • Work with parents to address concerns or complaints • Conduct initial testing requests • Public agency representative of case conference meetings • CPI training • Facilitate manifestation determination meetings • Coordinate state testing • Provide and conduct professional development for SPED staff • TAP evaluations and observations • Attend all required staff meetings • Coordinate and supervise related SPED services (Speech, O.T., Social Work) • Hire and supervise all SPED staff • Other related functions assigned by supervisor • Follow all school policies • Dress professionally Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • A Master’s Degree with 27 credit hours in content area • Valid Indiana License as SPED Teacher or Director • At least one (or more) of the following: TAP Experience (sign on bonus for TAP certification); Core Knowledge Experience; Experience with Blended Learning; At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment
