Regional Special Programs Coach
Job Summary:
The Regional Special Programs Coach is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and implementation of the district’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) framework. This position ensures consistent and effective academic and behavioral supports for all students through data-driven decision-making and collaboration with school staff. The coordinator will provide leadership, professional development, coaching, and guidance aligned with Florida Department of Education (FDOE) guidelines and federal/state laws.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Educational Leadership, or related field.
  • Florida Professional Educator Certificate.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful experience in education, including implementation of MTSS/RTI.
  • Strong knowledge of Florida’s MTSS framework, problem-solving model, and relevant statutes (e.g., SBER 6A-6.0331).
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting academic and behavioral data.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide training and support to staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with MTSS implementation at a school or district level.
  • Knowledge of interventions for students with dyslexia, English learners, and students with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with data platform (FOCUS)

    Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $66,000 and $80,000 commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a district-wide MTSS/RTI framework that integrates academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support.
  • Support schools in establishing Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions, using evidence-based practices and fidelity tools.
  • Provide ongoing professional development, coaching, and technical assistance to school-based MTSS teams, interventionists, and administrators.
  • Collaborate with ESE, EL, Mental Health, and Curriculum & Instruction departments to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Monitor student data (universal screenings, progress monitoring, referrals, behavior, attendance) to identify trends and ensure interventions are effective.
  • Facilitate the selection and implementation of progress monitoring tools and intervention programs in alignment with state-approved assessments (e.g., FAST, i-Ready, Mindplay, Ascend Math).
  • Guide schools in the development of intervention plans, data collection protocols, and fidelity checks.
  • Support school teams with documentation and data requirements for pre-referral processes and potential evaluations under IDEA or Section 504.
  • Serve as a liaison between the district and FDOE for MTSS initiatives and training opportunities.
  • Lead or participate in district-level MTSS data meetings and facilitate the problem-solving process.
  • Evaluate and improve district MTSS procedures based on research, data, and feedback
