REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school degree and business discipline.
  • Class A CDL experience.
  • Minimum 4+ years of shipping experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, leadership, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Must be 19 years of age or older.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with FMCSA and DOT regulations specific to Agricultural shipping laws.
  • Experience with turfgrass sod and seed in a retail setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or similar field.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) strongly preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in Logistics software (Lytx, Samsara)
  • Proficient in Routing Software (OnFleet, Microsoft Dynamics, or GroundCloud)
  • Proficient in B.I. and Analytics Software (Tableau, Excel)

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for hiring, termination, corrective action, and daily scheduling management of Regional Logistics administrative team.
  • Oversees the coordination and routing of shipments within the assigned territory.
  • Directs dispatching and routing activities and tracks Commercial trucks through digital automation systems.
  • Ensures that customer difficulties or problems are investigated and resolved.
  • Negotiates and secures contracts with transportation providers and customers.
  • Directs all maintenance, repair, and replacement of shipping equipment or vehicles.
  • Provides input to management regarding transportation operating efficiency leveraging the TMS, in coordination with district and branch management, to improve cost or service.
  • Maintains knowledge of best practices including the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulations related to transportation including those related to hazardous shipments, employee safety, and freight classifications.
  • In collaboration with Logistics Director and Human Resources, develops and implements policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for transportation operations.
  • Ensures compliance with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, environmental policies, and government regulations.
  • Reviews, audits, analyzes and approves expenditures and other financial information; uses results to develop and implement plans, policies, and budgets.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
