Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Labor has an exciting opportunity to join the Reemployment Services Division as a Registered Apprenticeship Program Coordinator. In this position, you will serve as the initial point of contact for employers, schools, and other organizations interested in developing an apprenticeship program. The ideal person will be collaborative, have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Examples of Work

  • Compile, analyze, and summarize demographic, financial, resource information for stakeholders, including other agencies and the public.
  • Identify and evaluate goals, needs and regulations and polices.
  • Train and advise agency staff in program planning, implementation, policies and guidelines to improve performance.
  • Confer with agency staff and representatives of state, local and public agencies and community organizations to exchange information pertinent to program operations.
  • Responsible for coordination of apprenticeship program development Nebraska businesses, One-Stop Operators, Department of Economic Development, Department of Education and other WIOA partners to align Registered Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning strategies to meet business demands and workforce needs.
  • Act as a liaison between the Nebraska Department of Labor and the United States Department of Labor to help expedite the approval of Registered Apprenticeship programs.
  • Develop system and program solutions to incorporate Work-Based Learning opportunities with schools, colleges, communities and local employers.
  • Develop system and program solutions to incorporate Work-Based Learning opportunities, Pre-Apprenticeship, and Youth Apprenticeship programs.
  • Job-related travel is required occasionally throughout the year.

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in human services, behavioral sciences, social sciences, public administration, business administration or closely related field AND three years experience in an employment, job development, or job training agency/program with responsibility for planning and coordinating program operations, or monitoring and evaluating delivery of program services. Related experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in business, public administration, or closely related field.
Other Qualifications: Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of: the principles and techniques to develop statewide and local policy; state and federal statutes affecting the employment and training programs; the methods of program and financial administration including planning and evaluation techniques; the program issues, demographic characteristics; available labor, employment, and economic development resource materials.
Skilled in: Public Speaking; problem solving, adaptability.
Ability to: Communicate with government officials, program representatives, and service providers to explain and advocate program goals, policies, and plans; Provide technical assistance and training for program staff; Interact with state and federal program representatives and private industry representatives to establish consensus on service needs; Learn, interpret and apply federal legislation and state and agency regulations and policies to specific job training issues and decisions.
