Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, coordinated and integrated community nursing services to individuals and their families, who have chronic conditions, or who have recently been discharged from hospital and/or who have continuing support needs and are within the designated geographical area of the network.
Community nursing care involves clinical care (chronic disease management including wound and catheter care), palliative care, carer support, illness prevention and health promotion activities.
As a regulated health professional the Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) to meet and the NMBA approved standards, codes, guidelines and frameworks.
The standards for practice should be evident in current practice, and inform the scope of practice for the area of employment ties.
