Your Opportunity:
Are you a Registered Dental Assistant seeking a new opportunity where you get to travel within Central Alberta, supporting the Oral Health within Public Health team? If so, this may be the opportunity for you. As a registered Dental Assistant with the Public Health team within Central Zone, supporting Wainwright and surrounding areas, you will implement the provincial Oral Health Action Plan by addressing risk factors for oral health. Your responsibilities will include oral health assessments, fluoride varnish and sealant application to students in targeted schools; fluoride varnish applications to preschool aged children; and oral health education for parents, and health professionals. You will work collaboratively with other Public Health staff, community dentists, community agencies, and schools, integrating the principles of health promotion, community development and capacity building. This position also supports the Dental Outreach of Red Deer, a collaboration between AHS and volunteer Dentists and Dental Assistants in the Red Deer area to provide free Dental Treatment to eligible children. This position requires moving heavy equipment and navigating awkward positions. You will be required to pack, lift, move, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies to various work sites. This position is on a compressed work schedule working 3 days a week September to June with 8 weeks off between July and August. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024. Description:
As a Dental Assistant, you will receive and prepare patients for treatment. You will prepare instruments and materials required, perform intra-oral procedures and chair-side assistance during dental procedures. You will maintain cleanliness of the dental area and perform routine maintenance. You will also provide oral health treatment and education to patients. You may perform billing and pre-authorization of insurance claims and participate in the development of educational resource materials. You will maintain dental charts, records and databases.
