OVERVIEW

Sterling Medical is seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team working with United States Veterans for a one-year position. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice. This position requires proficiency in various dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of dental terminology and practices.

SKILLS

  • Registered Dental Assistant (DANB Certified preferred).
  • BLS/ACLS required.
  • Proficient in using EMR systems, particularly Dentrix and Eaglesoft.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Experience with medical imaging techniques and 3D scanners is a plus.
  • Familiarity with infection control practices and aseptic technique.
  • Ability to perform medical coding and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Strong communication skills for effective patient interaction.
  • Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a comfortable environment for patients.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
  • Take and develop X-rays, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
  • Perform four-handed dentistry to enhance the efficiency of procedures.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and provide chairside assistance during treatments.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical documentation.
