Description Registered Dental Hygienist Job Overview The RDH is responsible for providing preventative dental care, educating patients on oral health, and supporting the dentist in delivering high-quality care. This position plays a critical role in promoting optimal oral hygiene and ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction. Requirements Key Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis (cleanings), scaling, root planing, and periodontal maintenance. Take and process dental X-rays (digital or traditional). Conduct oral cancer screenings and evaluate patients for signs of oral diseases. Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive materials. Educate patients on oral hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care techniques. Review and document medical and dental histories. Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and charting in compliance with dental practice standards. Sterilize instruments and ensure operatory cleanliness between patients. Assist the dentist during examinations when needed. Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and OSHA standards.
