GENERAL SUMMARY
Cleveland Clinic Canada is seeking a registered dietitian with a background in clinical nutrition and outpatient counseling with advanced training in clinical areas, such as heart health, weight management, metabolic health, bone health, bowel health, cancer prevention and general healthy eating. This is a casual position to cover extra shifts and to be available for casual coverage for vacation and sick leave. The successful candidate will have a moderately flexible schedule to be able to accommodate leave requests for members of the nutrition department.
Expected Shifts: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (2-3 days/week)
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario or eligibility for registration
- Bachelors Degree in Nutrition and successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program in Nutrition.
- Membership with Dietitians of Canada or obtain Professional Liability Insurance from other source
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of nutrition in preventive medicine and obesity as a chronic condition.
- Consistently follow an evidence-based model for providing nutrition care.
- Demonstrated ability to translate evidence-based nutrition knowledge into meaningful recommendations for foods, meals, snacks and supplements for individual patients.
- Demonstrated ability to improve patient outcomes.
- Able to provide education and counselling related to current nutrition issues and trends (including supplementation, alternative medicine and popular diets).
- Possess research skills, and be able to interpret and apply new findings in clinical nutrition and optimal behaviour and maintenance of health.
- Be self-directed and independent, but also work well in an interdisciplinary team setting.
- Demonstrate a high degree of competency with computers, including the ability to use an Electronic Medical Record reporting system (training will be provided).
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with patients and colleagues that augment positive patient outcomes.
- Must be passionate about healthcare and committed to our mandate of putting “Patients First”.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, problem solving and decision making skills.
REQUIED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in an outpatient clinic, private practice, family health team, or other counseling setting is an asset.
- Uses cognitive behavioural approaches and motivational interviewing to impact change.
