THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Dietitian (RD) with a passion for senior care? We are actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Food and Nutrition to lead our dietary services department at Dumont Center nursing and rehabilitation center in New Rochelle, NY.
In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our nutrition program, ensuring our residents receive exceptional culinary experiences and individualized nutritional care that promotes their health and well-being.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and Inspire: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Food and Nutrition Services Department, including staff management (training, scheduling, performance evaluations).
  • Champion Resident-Centered Care: Ensure high-quality nutrition services, including menu planning, food preparation, and delivery that meets the individual needs and preferences of each resident.
  • Nutritional Expertise: Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and provide dietary counseling and education to residents and their families.
  • Collaborate for Success: Partner with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to optimize resident care and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Compliance and Quality: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing food service and dietary operations within a nursing home setting.
  • Food Service Excellence: Oversee all aspects of food production, meal assembly, and service, ensuring culinary quality, proper portion control, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Manage the departmental budget and inventory, monitor expenditures, control food costs, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) activities to enhance the nutrition program and resident experience.

Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in a senior living, hospital, or long-term care setting strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to nutrition and dietary services in nursing homes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills..
