Description
As a member of the healthcare team, using a client-centered approach, the Registered Dietitian is responsible for the nutritional care of patients through assessment of nutritional status, prescription, implementation and management of nutritional care plans, counseling and teaching. In addition to patient care, the Dietitian may participate in applied research and clinical studies, student education etc. 1. Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario or eligibility for registration. 2. Baccalaureate degree in Applied Human Nutrition or Baccalaureate of Science and successful completion of dietetic internship. 3. Knowledge of principles and practical application of applied and therapeutic nutrition. 4. Demonstrated clinical evaluation and critical appraisal skills. 5. Computer and Medline search skills. 6. Demonstrated initiative and ability to function independently. 7. Excellent communication, teamwork, problem-solving and organization skills. 8. Ability to teach and facilitate the learning of dietetic interns. 9. Membership with Dietitians of Canada required. 10. Previous experience with acute medical patients preferred.
