A Brief Overview The Registered Dietitian I is responsible for the provision of high-quality nutrition care to the patient. Primary responsibilities include performing comprehensive nutrition assessments, determining nutrition problems, implementing nutrition interventions, monitoring the nutritional status of patients, and communicating nutritional needs and concerns with the health care team The Registered Dietitian I is most often dietitians early in their career or those who have recently completed their internship/pre-professional experiences. The Registered Dietitian I consults with a higher-level dietitian for guidance of complex patients or issues when appropriate. Locations Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley What you will do Performs comprehensive nutrition assessments through the collection and analysis of evidenced-based parameters (anthropometric, biochemical, diet history, and physical examination data). Identifies nutrition problem and their etiologies Develops and implements nutrition interventions focused on the etiologies of the nutrition problems. Includes the patient and/or caregiver in this process whenever possible Monitors and evaluates nutrition-related outcomes through the selection of standardized indicators relevant to the nutrition problems, nutrition goals, and medical condition Communicates nutritional needs and concerns with the health care team Provides nutrition education and counseling, taking into consideration the patient’s preferred language and learning method, knowledge, abilities, and economic and social situations Coordinates or delegates nutrition care to other health professionals, including other dietitians, across the continuity of care spectrum Serves as a nutrition resource to others including students, health professionals, medical staff, and public Conducts in-services and presentations as needed or assigned Serves as a preceptor for dietetic interns by providing instruction and feedback Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities as assigned Maintains productivity standards through effective time management and prioritization of tasks. Maintains accurate record keeping of daily activities, including information for scheduling and billing if applicable. Submits all required documentation, logs, and reports in a complete and timely fashion. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree from an accredited college or university in Food Science, Nutrition, or Dietetics. Required Experience Qualifications 1+ year to 2 years experience in clinical dietetics Preferred Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply all steps of the process. Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy. Critical thinking to integrate facts, informed opinions, and observations to support decision-making in patient care. Effective communication in written, verbal, and electronic form to health professionals, medical staff, patients, and public. General knowledge of electronic health records and common computer applications. Strong organizational skills and the ability to accomplish assigned work with time constraints. Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units and/or outpatient clinics. Ability to work as a valued team member, but also autonomously. Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $42.24 - $54.60 per hour The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
