This position is responsible for providing nutrition management services to pediatric patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting. The position will work as part of a care team at both the UNLV Medicine outpatient clinic and the Silver State Skilled Nursing Facility. This position will also work with the General Pediatricians and their referred patients. Our patient care model includes faculty, residents, and students. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or related field required * Completion of dietetic internship and trainee program or equivalent required * Certified Nutritionist Specialist Certification preferred RESPONSIBILITIES * Conducts assessments, plans and implements diet recommendations to children with special health care needs * Selects the appropriate feeding modality for the patient and accurately calculates nutritional needs. Changes to the nutrition plan of care are made according to findings in a timely fashion * Provides Nutrition consultation in the assigned interdisciplinary specialty clinics * Assumes a proactive role with patient/family education and patient/family satisfaction in the practice setting * Assumes personal accountability to enhance the patient experience by using high quality, patient satisfaction-directed interactions/tools/activities in the execution of duties * Always interacts with patients and families in a compassionate and respectful manner, at all times * Documents nutrition care plans and recommendations and ensures timely availability of information for inclusion in the interdisciplinary care plan * Participates in training of staff, students, and residents; and as requested by Department Manager, mentors, and provides education on areas of expertise PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods * May include performing repetitive tasks * May include working with challenging patients and clients * May include lifting up to 25 pounds UNLV Health will provide equal opportunity employment to all employees and applicants for employment.
