POSITION OVERVIEW

Edion Staffing Agency is currently hiring a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) with supervisory experience to support a child care centre in Burlington, Ontario. This is a full-time contract role for one month, with a strong possibility of extension for an additional two months or longer. We are looking for someone who can start immediately and step confidently into a leadership position.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators; Ministry approval as Supervisor.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a licensed childcare centre.
  • Practical experience in Montessori and play-based curriculum.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable legislation and childcare regulations.
  • Proven leadership with staff engagement and professional development.
  • Experience in crisis management, emergency response, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingualism an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client management abilities.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy children and equipment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Comfort working in conditions with exposure to bodily fluids, illness, high noise, and weather changes.
  • Current First Aid Certification and updated immunization records.
  • Two directly related professional references required upon request.
  • Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014), Public Health, Fire Safety, Employment Standards Act, and other licensing regulations.
  • Manage and direct the centre’s curriculum, ensuring it reflects diversity, culture, abilities, and program philosophy.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain standards.
  • Liaise with the Ministry of Education program advisor regarding licensing and program requirements.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents, community agencies, and Early Intervention services.
  • Represent the Licensee at meetings, advocacy forums, and local childcare networks.
  • Manage client communications including handbooks, policies, and forms.
  • Keep Licensee informed on relevant government policies, initiatives, and local developments.

6. Staff Management

  • Maintain current job descriptions for all staff.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Ensure staff orientation, training, and policy sign-offs.
  • Supervise, coach, and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Lead staff meetings and implement professional development goals.
  • Apply disciplinary measures and terminations in consultation with the Licensee.
  • Support staff in child, parent, and peer interactions.
  • Appoint designates during absences

  • Ensure continuous quality improvement and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Develop program delivery policies covering curriculum, discipline, and philosophy.
  • Recommend and implement new programming based on research and community needs.
  • Allocate staff, resources, and scheduling to maintain appropriate child-to-staff ratios.
  • Gather feedback from families and staff to inform planning.
  • Plan and deliver professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Establish and monitor health, safety, and emergency protocols.
  • Maintain inventory of program supplies and equipment.
  • Report serious occurrences and suspected abuse to appropriate agencies.
  • Renew annual insurance and prepare documentation for license renewal.
  1. Enrolment & Marketing
  • Manage all aspects of child enrolment and waiting lists.
  • Conduct tours, answer inquiries, and support prospective families.
  • Implement and evaluate marketing strategies to strengthen enrolment.
  • Promote the Centre to families, professionals, community groups, and public entities.
  • Collect and integrate family feedback into policy development.
  • Maintain enrolment data and recommend innovative solutions to stay competitive.
  1. Operational Policies & Documentation
  • Establish and maintain accurate children’s records (registration, medical, permissions).
  • Ensure compliance with safe arrivals/departures and medication administration protocols.
  • Maintain updated allergy lists and communication logs.
  • Provide family orientations and update parent handbooks with policy changes.
  • Review weekly menus to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Organize and facilitate parent/staff meetings.
  1. Curriculum Oversight
  • Regularly evaluate program delivery in consultation with staff.
  • Act as a resource to staff on child development and program planning.
  • Review and approve program plans to meet developmental standards.
  • Actively observe and participate in routines to maintain close contact with staff, children, and families.

  • Inform bookkeeper of regional financial supports (e.g., GOG, WEG).
  • Ensure timely submission of documentation to support financial processes.
