Plains Road Child Care Inc. (PRCC) is a not-for-profit (parent run board of directors) Child Care Centre located in a TCDSB school in East York. PRCC provides quality early learning and care to children from 0-12 years. We are currently looking to hire a full-time educator who is dedicated, enthusiastic, and creative to join our team for the following position:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • RECE must be registered wit the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Must have current and valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification.
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination required/mandatory to have at least two vaccinations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Asset, 2+ year post-graduate experience working in a Child Care setting
  • Previous experience working (placement experience is perfect) with all age groups.
  • Must be willing to work with all age groups and be flexible to accommodate the needs of the program. As well must be willing to work flexible hours (between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) – shifts are altered according to Centre needs.
  • Experience developing and implementing emergent programs using the ELECT framework – using effective observation and documentation skills.
  • Basic computer skills/Microsoft are an asset.
  • Ability to work with families in complex situations and from a variety of cultures, and differing family values and beliefs.
  • Able and willing to work outside of the centre’s operational hours on occasion (i.e. some evenings or weekends to attend mandatory monthly staff meetings, special events, professional development, etc.) as needed. Monthly evening staff meetings are mandatory.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cohesive team setting.
  • Leadership skills - ability to take initiative, assess and respond to situations in a positive, effective, and timely manner, and work independently requiring minimal supervision and/or direction.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills – able to communicate positively and effectively with children, parents, staff, and management team.
  • Knowledge of relevant requirements and legislation as per the City of Toronto’s ‘Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) and Ministry of Education’s licensing legislation (CCEYA, 2014) and HDLH approaches, as well at Toronto Public Health requirements and standards
  • 3 references will be required from current or previous supervisors or managers.
