POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in the School Age Program is responsible for supporting the developmental growth and overall well-being of children aged 3.5 years to 12 years (JK to Grade 6). Working under the direction of the General Manager, or designate, the RECE School Age Educator will deliver responsive, inclusive programming guided by the pedagogical framework How Does Learning Happen? and the College of Early Childhood Educators’ Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. This role involves nurturing young learners, fostering strong relationships with families, and ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for all children.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Child and Youth Care certification
  • Degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure
  • Ontario College of Teachers qualification

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or GED
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
  • Up-to-date immunizations (TDaP, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella)
  • Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) within 5 months of hire
  • CECE registration in good standing (if RECE)

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and enriching learning environment
  • Applied understanding of child development and emergent programming
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt to the needs of children and the environment
  • In-depth knowledge of ELECT, How Does Learning Happen?, and CCEYA regulations
