Position Overview: The Head Educator is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive educational programs in early childhood settings. This role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports children’s holistic development while mentoring and guiding a team of educators to ensure the highest standards of care and education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred).
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education with significant experience (acceptable).
  • Certifications:
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Deep understanding of child development principles and best practices.
  • Creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Delivery:
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate curricula that align with developmental milestones and learning objectives.
  • Integrate creative, educational, and play-based activities into the daily schedule.
  • Assess and adapt activities to meet the individual needs of each child.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to ECEs, ECE Assistants and other staff.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to ensure alignment on program goals and strategies.
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful team environment.
  • Child Observation and Assessment:
  • Monitor and document children’s progress, behaviours, and developmental milestones.
  • Conduct regular assessments and maintain detailed records for each child.
  • Share observations and progress reports with families and collaborate on strategies to support each child.
  • Family Engagement:
  • Build positive relationships with families and act as a key point of contact for communication.
  • Provide resources and guidance to families on child development and parenting strategies.
  • Health and Safety Oversight:
  • Ensure that all health, safety, and hygiene policies are strictly followed.
  • Conduct regular safety checks of the facility and equipment.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies and incidents.
  • Professional Development and Compliance:
  • Stay informed on best practices and emerging trends in early childhood education.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in training, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
