Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Registered General Nurse to join our Outpatients team at Thorpe Park Clinic. The role will consist of supporting the clinical team in delivering outstanding patient care in the Outpatients department.

Job Purpose:

  • Supervising and co-ordinating the daily activities taking place in the clinical setting.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of quality and evidence-based care is being provided to patients by yourself, your team and the wider MDT.
  • Support and empower the clinical team and wider MDT through teaching, training and assessing.
  • Promoting positive behaviours and best practice in the clinical setting.
  • Ensuring expected governance standards are met.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Working within the NMC code of conduct, maintaining professional responsibilities and acting as a positive role model for other staff members.
Ensuring that the clinical setting has an adequate skill mix to support the needs of the clinicians and patients.
Continuous effective communication to patients, staff and the wider MDT.
Reporting and investigating incidents, near misses and complaints, escalating issues to the Clinical Services Manager and implementing changes when necessary.
Share knowledge and information with staff members and involve them in decision making.
Provide evidenced based, safe and effective care to patients by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care.
Maintain a high standard of record keeping, including patient records, ensuring that they are clear and accurate.
Work closely with the MDT to maintain excellent and efficient clinical care and outcomes.
Work together with the Health and Safety lead, ensuring the clinical environment is safe for staff and patients and following the process for escalation if there are risks to the health and safety of staff and patients.
Monitoring equipment for defaults and reporting any issues as required.
Maintaining excellent infection control standards; referring to policies and procedures where appropriate. Acting as a role model for infection control in the clinical setting and challenging poor practice.
Monitoring the cleanliness of the clinical setting daily and escalating any concerns to the Clinical Services Manager.
Mentoring and supervising clinical staff and students where needed.
Having an awareness of the waste management policies and processes as well as making sure that staff are aware of the correct waste disposal procedures and are adhering to the waste management policy.
Monitoring stock levels, ordering and usage and escalate any concerns to the Clinical Services Manager.
Conducting audits, risk assessments and checklists as required by the Clinical Services Manager, reporting back to them with any positive or negative feedback.
Supporting an open and honest culture, that is inclusive of all staff members.
Keeping up to date with mandatory training. Support and facilitate staff to complete theirs.
Moving and handling practices should be safe and as taught in training.
Assist the Clinical Services Manager in maintaining safe and effective medicines management practices in the clinical setting, working closely with the Pharmacist and Clinical Services Manager. Monitoring the safe storage, ordering and administration of drugs.
Knowledge, skills and experience  

Essential Criteria

  • NMC registered nurse or HCPC registered ODP
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Basic IT skills and ability to work with online programmes such as SystmOne
  • Good time/resource management skills
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development

Desirable Criteria

  • To be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience),
  • Knowledge of working within endoscopy unit
  • To have Preparation for mentorship course (ENB998) or equivalent
  • Access to own transportation to support cross site working
