We are seeking a highly experienced Registered Manager who has a proven record of “Good” and “Outstanding” CQC inspections. You will play a vital role in leading a team to provide high-quality care and support to residents in a warm and welcoming environment. The care home is a welcoming, homely environment that is purpose designed to meet the resident’s needs holistically and enable them to live meaningful lives.
Salary: £52,908
Location: Dorchester
To ensure that each resident is assessed for need and has a formally developed Care Plan, ensuring the involvement / participation of the resident and his / her family or relatives, or an advocate, as required. To ensure that appropriate individual care is given to each resident, in accordance with the Care Plans.
In consultation with GPs and Senior Care Staff, as appropriate, to develop individual Care Plans for new residents and to ensure their formal review on a regular and pre-planned basis.
To complete all required assessments and best interest decisions for residents who lack mental capacity and liaise with the local MCA team.
To complete all required applications for residents who require Deprivation of Liberty orders and liaise with the local MCA team.
To ensure that all duties undertaken by reporting staff are performed to required standards, and that all such staff contribute in a positive manner to provide a happy, efficient and homely atmosphere within the Home. Providing leadership, management and the highest level of support to the Team, to ensure the very best outcomes.
Take ownership of achieving the highest levels of compliance with regards to regulations, laws, quality standards & policies, ensuring we achieve a minimum of “Good” CQC inspection.

Continually review and improve processes to ensure the most effective and efficient service is being delivered to our clients
Complete and continuously improve the Assessments, Risk Assessments and Care Plans to ensure the outcome of the client is achieved
Ensure any regulatory activity, such as personal care and administering medicines, is delivered within regulations.
Help residents with problems of mobility and other physical disabilities (e.g. incontinence), helping with the use of disability aids and caring for the same, where appropriate.
Ensure that the Home is cleaned, heated and maintained to standards required by the Registration Authority and the Environmental Health Office, as appropriate.
Conduct resident meetings and to ensure that 1 to 1 meetings are held for residents who can’t attend the full meeting.
Provide information, advice and support to residents’ families.
Organise activities for residents and actively promote their independence and rights.
Accountable for the Health and Safety of staff and clients; ensuring the Health & Safety policy and procedures are followed at all times.
Ensure company policies, procedures and approved practices are followed.
To be aware of Key Performance Indicators and to accurately record and report statistics to the Director as appropriate.
Manage budgets and the financial effectiveness of the setting, meeting or exceeding financial targets.
Chair meetings and Deliver training.
Work with care partners, including; local authorities and health
Engage with the local community to promote the service
Have oversight of mental capacity and DOLS
Have oversight and responsibility for safeguarding
As necessary, liaise with the Care Quality Commission, Local Authority and Fire Authority to ensure satisfactory standards are maintained at the Home and any required notifications to be submitted in a timely manner e.g., DOLs, safeguarding, RIDDOR, CQC notifications etc.
Ensure maximum resident occupancy levels are maintained at all times.
Take responsibility and have complete oversight on the Home’s medication processes to ensure that safe medication processes are being implemented.
Complete audits and following up their actions in a timely manner to ensure the compliance and smooth running of the Service.
Keep abreast of all new legislation and regulations relating to Care Act/Standards, Mental Capacity Act, Health & Safety, C.O.S.H.H., Fire Prevention, Employment and, and to ensure effective communication of the same to relevant staff.
Deal with all feedback including complaints and using this to drive improvements
Ensure that the Company Complaints Procedure is understood, publicised and applied in a way that allows residents to have their complaints dealt with in an open and honest way without fear of victimisation. Competently investigate any complaints or adult protection concerns raised by residents or relatives and report them as appropriate.
Investigate all injuries sustained by residents while in the care of the Home. Report all serious injuries as appropriate.
Ensure the provision of adequate staff cover for all shifts in line with statutory requirements. To assist in the preparation of duty rotas as needed.
Be approachable and supportive to all staff to keep all staff working to the highest of their ability.
Be responsible for ensuring all administrative functions associated with management of the staff are completed correctly.
To complete regular staff supervisions and appraisals in line with company process.
To adequately manage the service and when staffing issues arise, conduct investigations/ disciplinaries and any other formal meetings such as welfare meetings where appropriate.
To be part of the recruitment of suitable staff.
Ensure all staff complete the Company and Statutory requirements regarding induction training.
Participate in staff training to documented Training Plans to ensure that Job Description requirements can be adequately fulfilled. Ensure mandatory training is completed by staff in a timely manner and where necessary help raise the skills and competencies of your staffing team to ensure they have the ability to perform in their current role.
Ensure all ongoing maintenance work is identified and communicated to Head Office and ensure works are carried out as planned.
Review the need to update equipment, furniture and fittings, in priority order, and action within budget.
Ensure regular stock checks are completed to ensure there are enough food, clinical and cleaning supplies.
Undertake all mandatory training courses, external and internal, as required by the company.
Provide additional support to the service and work as part of the Home’s on-call rota where telephone support will be provided when required outside of your normal working hours. In certain circumstances, you may be expected to attend the service outside of your normal working hours to provide additional support/guidance.
