JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with mental health needs, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, assess patient conditions, and provide therapeutic interventions. Your expertise in mental health nursing will be essential in fostering a supportive environment for patients and their families.

EXPERIENCE

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner for effective patient documentation.
  • Experience in various nursing settings including acute care, long-term care, assisted living, or home care.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical documentation practices.
  • Background in critical care or emergency medicine is preferred; experience in trauma medicine or pediatrics is a plus.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health practices including case management, pain management, and hospice & palliative medicine.
  • Skills in patient assessment techniques including vital signs monitoring, IV insertion, phlebotomy, and medication administration.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities or geriatric patients. Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine mental health needs and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Administer medications and monitor their effects on patients, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions including crisis intervention, counseling, and education to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of services.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies.
  • Monitor vital signs, perform physical examinations, and assist with diagnostic evaluations as needed.
  • Educate patients on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
  • Participate in discharge planning and follow-up care to support patient recovery.
  • Stay informed about current best practices in mental health care and participate in ongoing professional development.
