Responsibilities

As the Caesarean Section Midwife, you will:

  • Attend caesarean sections in the Wollongong Hospital Operating Suite (TWH) to receive and resuscitate newborns
  • Provide seamless, collaborative care by working closely with the Midwifery Unit Manager
  • Demonstrate expertise in this specialised practice area, ensuring care is safe, ethical, and respectful of women’s choices
  • Show sensitivity to the needs, values, and beliefs of women and their families, while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Lead the facilitation of skin-to-skin contact in line with hospital policy (MAT POST CLIN GL 04) to promote optimal newborn outcomes
  • Attend Comprehensive Well Neonatal checks and facilitate discharges in the ward as needed
  • Work within the policies and procedures of NSW Health, Wollongong Hospital, and the Nursing and Midwifery Division
