Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working within the Midwifery Group Practice program, you will be providing continuity of care to women throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. Under the program, you will be allocated an agreed caseload of women per year from whom you, with support from your fellow midwives, will be providing 24 hour support.
In this role you’ll work independently and manage your own workload and time and get to know the women you care for very well, providing a continuity of care and trust through their pregnancy and birth experience. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal midwifery care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions to facilitate women achieving ‘towards normal birth’ strategies and optimal birthing goals.
Focussed on the woman’s individual needs, expectations and aspirations, you’ll work at an advanced nursing level to achieve quality care outcomes for patients and are well supported in a collaborative work environment. Your role will be well supported by a Clinical Midwife Specialist Team Leader, and you will enjoy a collaborative work environment with close support from our district’s Clinical Midwife Educator and Clinical Midwife Consultants.
Access to further professional development opportunities are available to develop your skills and supercharge your career. Working hours include one weekend each month and flexible work practices.
