About the opportunity As a Registered Nurse/Midwife or Registered Midwife in the Parent Education Department, your primary role will be to provide evidence-based childbirth and parenting education, contributing to the ongoing care and support of expecting families. You will work closely with families and as a part of the multidisciplinary team to provide quality maternity care by delivering evidenced based educational programs in group settings; face to face or online, in 1:1 or small group settings where education programs may be tailored based on specific needs. You will provide person and family centred education that strives to enhance patient outcomes and experience, contributing to a positive and supportive learning environment. About the Parent Education Department: At the Mercy Hospital for Women, the Parent Education Department is dedicated to providing evidenced-based, person-focused education to expectant parents and their families. You will join a group of compassionate and enthusiastic healthcare professionals who are committed to delivering a high standard of care and education, while being part of a supportive team. The primary focus of this role is to provide quality, family centred education and information to expectant parents and families, empowering them to make informed decisions about childbirth and parenting using an evidenced based approach. Additional responsibilities: Tailor and develop education session that meet the needs of families, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive approach to their learning experience. Assessing and monitoring the effectiveness of educational programs, making adjustments as needed based on feedback and evolving best practices. Maintain professional development, ensuring knowledge of relevant resources and information is current, accurate and applicable. To thrive in this role, you will have: A passion for providing high quality, evidence-based childbirth and parenting education. Understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to engage participants while delivering education effectively. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with patients, families and as a part of a collaborative team, with the ability to adapt and problem solve. You will also be required to provide evidence of: Midwifery or Nursing/Midwifery Registration with AHPRA. Post grad qualification in education or working towards and twelve months clinical experience in midwifery within maternity care or Post registration clinical experience in maternity care, including experience in educating families in childbirth or parenting. A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check. Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
