Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities: * Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Maternal Child Health Unit. * Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination * Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examination, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area * Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses * Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record * Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy * Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients * Recognizes unsafe and life-threatening situations and how to intervene appropriately * Demonstrates skills in critical thinking, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, and ability to make appropriate independent decisions * Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice * Demonstrates compassionate customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues * Solid foundation in evaluating plans of care and reformulating as necessary Registered Nurse (RN) Education and Experience Requirements: * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required * Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required * Labor and Delivery experience preferred * American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment * American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation certification is required within three (3) months of employment * Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area Why Choose Day Kimball Health?
