Description
Our Registered Nurses develop and practice their skills in caring for stroke and Neurology patients in the acute phase of stroke care. Our unique care model provides opportunities for enhanced continuity of patient care through specialized unit dedicated to the management of Stroke and Neurology patients with dynamic and strong interdisciplinary teams. As a member of the healthcare team in this unique model of care, the Registered Nurse coordinates, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care according to the job description, Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses on 7 South and the Canadian Best Practice Recommendations for Stroke Care. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nursing of Ontario as a Registered Nurse Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification Current knowledge of and experience in acute care nursing preferred Demonstrated knowledge and clinical experience in stroke care/ neurology preferred Current knowledge of the nursing care planning process and evidence of ability to problem-solve Completion of the telemetry pathway of Critical Practice Orientation (CPO) training or ability to complete this CPO training offered by HHS (ECG interpretation and monitoring for telemetry) Experience in IV access, venipuncture, and cardiac rhythm monitoring Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high turnover environment Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making in assessment, problem identification and problem solving Ability to prioritize and collaborate with the team when the patients conditions changes Willingness to participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and innovation Evidence of commitment to professional practice and ongoing professional development
