Your Opportunity:
The role of an occupational health nurse is quite diverse. It involves patient care as well as extensive administrative responsibilities. The position will interpret client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to nonstandard issues and requests, will counsel and educate clients on health and wellness in the workplace and provide input into policy and process development. The position works to ensure Alberta Health Services values, goals and principles are implemented and integrated in the delivery of services to client groups The position is also responsible for: Provide clinical support, advice, direction, and input into the needs of fellow staff and managers in relation to health promotion, safety and hygiene, and disease/injury prevention programs. Act as healthcare provider for AHS staff and representatives. Ensuring the highly sensitive confidential health information of fellow staff and AHS representatives. Assisting in the implementation of program and policy strategies to address workplace health and safety hazards. Promoting WHS programs and strategic priorities. Delivering programs and services to staff and line managers to meet their needs, including: Occupational immunizations. Occupational health assessments/ monitoring Needle stick and blood/ body fluid exposure (BBFE) follow up. Communicable disease exposure (CDE) follow up and investigation. WCB Case Management. Employee/Family Assistance Program awareness. Noise Management Program. Hazard assessment and control. Skin integrity/Hand Health investigations. Respiratory fit testing, Ergonomic review and other consultation/duties as required. Measure and monitor outcomes of current WHS programs and new initiatives. Consulting with and referring to appropriate stakeholders and specialists (e.g. IPC, Public Health).
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
