Your Opportunity:
The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) Critical Care Program consists of General Systems Intensive Care Unit (GSICU) and the Edmonton Firefighters’ Burn Treatment Unit. The GSICU is a Level 1 Trauma Centre ICU and provincial transplant center for northern and central Alberta, northern BC, Saskatchewan and northern Territories. As a Registered Nurse who is part of the interdisciplinary care team, you will provide evidence-based care to patients with critical illness or trauma, often with multisystem involvement. You will care for patients requiring continuous and intermittent renal replacement for acute and chronic failure. The successful candidate will provide patient and family-centered care to patients undergoing liver transplants as well as kidney/pancreas transplants. GSICU nurses are members of the Code Team and Medical Emergency Team (MET) for the Walter C. McKenzie campus at the UAH. The GSICU team also provides support for the Special Isolation Unit (SIU), caring for patients with complex isolation needs such as Ebola. There is also opportunity for the Registered Nurse to join the Clinical Resource Team (CRT), providing care to both GSICU and Burn Unit patients. As a Registered Nurse (RN) working within the interdisciplinary care team, you will be responsible for planning, assessing, implementing and evaluating care using evidence-based practices. You will work collaboratively within the team to provide positive patient outcomes and excellence in patient and family-centered care while adhering to hospital policy and standards of care. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care, while reflecting shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Psychiatric Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
