PLC mental health team is a group of dynamic multidisciplinary teams that work together to ensure our patients have the best care and experience. Our site runs six Addictions and Mental Health programs (two General psyche units, Day hospital, Psyche ED, Consultation Liaison and the specialty Mental Health Short Stay Unit (SSU). As an RN/RPN you work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team in the in-patient acute psychiatric nursing unit collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families and communities. The RN/RPN’s scope of practice includes physical and mental status assessments, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating care as well as discharge planning for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring mental health, de-escalation, conflict resolution and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. The RN/RPN provides care throughout the life span, in all stages of health and complexities of illness. This position is responsible for communicating with other departments and services, across the Addiction and Mental Health continuum, to ensure the provision of comprehensive, high-quality care to promote recovery and wellness. The opportunity to be a strong advocate for the patient is an integral role as you will facilitate the appeal process for patient certification. The RN/RPN may also facilitate learning for clients and families as well as provide individual and group therapy. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
