Joining Alberta’s provincial Corrections Health Services team as a Registered Nurse (RN) presents a rewarding opportunity to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care to approximately 3,500 adults and youth across 10 correctional facilities. As part of a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health specialists, and more, RNs assess and address diverse medical, mental health, and substance use needs through services like emergency response, opioid dependency treatment, telemedicine, and discharge planning to support community reintegration. This role fosters professional growth in a dynamic environment, emphasizing harm reduction, public health, and equity, while contributing to improved health outcomes, reduced recidivism, and public safety. Opportunities are available through Alberta Health Services, with requirements including active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta, and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
