Your Opportunity:
The Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) nurse is responsible for performing comprehensive assessments, medical-legal examinations and providing patient treatment/care and follow-up for adolescents and adults who have experienced a sexual assault within the previous 7 days. This includes collecting forensic evidence, liaising with law enforcement, and the expectation of testifying in court. Specialized knowledge of sexual reproductive health and sexual assault care with strong clinical/counselling skills is required, including STBBI testing and treatment, monitoring/interpreting lab results, contraception/emergency contraception, and pelvic exams. The SART nurse practices trauma informed care, is experienced working with marginalized populations, and is adept at communicating when complicated client dynamics are present. The SART nurse works independently while collaborating effectively within a multi-disciplinary team such as emergency department physicians/nursing staff, medical officers of health, law enforcement, and community agencies. This position has scheduled shifts as well as an on-call rotation with a high volume of call-backs. The position is part of the 24 hour a day/7 day a week/365 days a year staffing for the SART program across the Edmonton Zone. The work requires driving in all seasonal conditions at all hours of the day or night. Lifting/carrying equipment weighing 25 pounds (~ 12 kgs) in/out of a vehicle and Emergency Departments is required. This work exposes the incumbent to vicarious trauma. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
