Your Opportunity:
The Stollery Philip C. Etches Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, is a 69 funded bed unit that accepts babies from all over Northern Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, and is characterized by high acuity and high activity. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of sick and critically ill neonates on both level II and level III. The program utilizes a Family Centered Care philosophy within an interdisciplinary team model, and is the only NIDCAP (Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program) training center in Canada. The Program has a dedicated Resuscitation and Stabilization Team (RST) who respond to the High-Risk case room at the Lois Hole Hospital. The Program is involved in several quality improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will perform a variety of nursing duties and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families to achieve positive patient outcomes and improvements in quality care. Nursing care will be administered safely and effectively according to NICU and hospital guidelines. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and wellbeing. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe and high quality Patient and Family Centered Care, reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services (AHS).

Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
