Your Opportunity:
As a general pediatric hematology Registered Nurse (RN) within the outpatient pediatric Hematology program, this Registered Nurse position is responsible for the coordination and planning of hematology care for patients and families within the Stollery Children’s Hospital. This position involves assessment, consultation, and education of children and families followed through the Hematology clinics at the Stollery Children’s Hospital (SCH). In addition, the successful candidate will serve as a clinical resource for nurses at the Stollery Children’s Hospital facilitating excellence in patient care. As well, the general Hematology nurse will consult, confer, and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources, and other health care professional/providers to achieve excellence in family centered care, education, and research. Strong clinical skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills are required in working with the multidisciplinary health care team of the pediatric Hematology program in providing family centered care. The patient population will include children with bleeding disorders, hemophilia, hemoglobinopathies including sickle cell disease and thalassemia syndromes, aplastic anemia, congenital marrow failure syndromes, cytopenias, polycythemia, thrombocytosis, and hemolytic anemias. The patient population also includes patients attending the general pediatric hematology clinics outside of bleeding, hemophilia, and Hemoglobinopathy care. On occasion liaison will be required with other services i.e. bone marrow transplant and apheresis team. The expectation within the job description is that there will be cross coverage with other pediatric hematology outpatient RNs. Other responsibilities include management of complex care issues, facilitation of multidisciplinary care, and coordination.

Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
