Overview Shift: Days; four 10-hour shifts + call once per month As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, the Registered Nurse contributes professional knowledge, critical thinking, and clinical expertise in the delivery and coordination of care for patients and their families. Nurses practice in an environment guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, the UnityPoint Health Philosophy of Nursing, and the Professional Nurse Practice Model, working collaboratively with physicians and all members of the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Ambulatory Unit provides comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care for patients of all ages undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. Registered Nurses complete detailed assessments, prepare patients for surgery, monitor recovery, and provide clear discharge education to promote safe healing at home. All nurses maintain BLS and ACLS certification to ensure safe, high-quality care throughout each phase of the perioperative experience. Prepares patients for surgery, conducts assessments, and provides necessary education. Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth transitions in patient care from pre-op to post-op and discharge, coordinating follow-up appointments and any necessary home care services. Qualifications Education: Diploma from an RN program. License(s)/Certification(s): Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in primary state. Must apply within 90 days for licensure in secondary state. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
