Associates in Nephrology, a leading association of kidney specialists is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Monterey Vascular Center on the South Side of Chicago. In this role you will work closely alongside physicians to assure the delivery of high quality patient care.

Responsibilities

· Assists patients in and out of patient care areas by verifying patient’s name and birth date; taking vitals; reviewing patient history for completeness, and assessing patient’s physiological, psychosocial, pain, and nutritional status and verifying allergies.
· Communicates/documents patient pre-operative status relevant to health care team: Verbal reports, and patient records.
· Provides equipment and supplies in an organized and timely manner.
· Checks room and equipment for cleanliness, and assures all medical equipment is functioning before use, and maintains a sterile environment by inspecting items for contamination before opening, such as an intact package, and sterile indicator.
· Prepares the room by testing equipment for working conditions of lights, suction, and electro-surgical unit (ESU), arranges equipment to allow easy mobility and safety, opens wrappers and packs ad instruments, assists in the positioning of the patient, and moves sterile table(s) into position by grasping them below and under the sterile drapes.
· During operative procedures: provides scrub tech with sterile supplies, inspects skin at dispersive electrode site and pressure areas, and preps patient with appropriate skin antiseptic.
· After post-operative care: connects patient to blood pressure machine, EKG, pulse oximeter, takes vital signs at frequent intervals based on policy, records all data; communicates/documents post-operative care such as discharge criteria, nurse’s notes and etc., reports any changes in patient’s condition, and assesses the patient post-operatively: patient interview, and patient monitoring.
· Provides instruction to patient prior to discharge, gives patient and family verbal and written instructions on post-operative care and reviews surgical charts for completeness, legibility, and correctness.
· Other duties as assigned.
