Description Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides a day program for adults, where participants receive training in daily living skills and pre-vocational activities, employment services for those with disabilities and three residential homes for individuals unable to live in their own home. Avondale House has been serving individuals with autism since 1976. Job Duties: · Serves as agency’s Infection Control Committee Chairperson. · Performs State Comprehensive Nursing Assessments annually. · Performs client physicals quarterly. · Ensures medical orders are carried out including receiving referrals, ensuring appointments are set and documentation is completed at the time of appointment. · Completes documentation and participates in quarterly psychiatric medical reviews with Psychiatrist on medications and client progress. · Prepares for quarterly Pharmacist reviews. · Performs blood draw and ensures all laboratory tests are completed and tracks monthly and quarterly lab work. · Participates in quarterly and annual staffing reviews on each residential client. · Performs audit of client medical records and medication administration records monthly. · Provides medical assessments and treatment to clients as needed. · Documents client’s weekly vital signs as ordered by physician. · Ensures regulatory compliance (chart reviews, quality improvement). · Conducts annual and new hire medical in-service training. · Communicates with physicians on client’s medical care. · Administers Immunizations. · Orders medication. · Provides nursing support to school as needed. · Serves as liaison to client’s family regarding any medical issues with clients. · Works with staff throughout Avondale House to meet the needs of each client. Requirements · Registered Nurse License (RN) through Texas board of Nursing. · Prefer knowledge of ICF/IDD regulations. · 1+ years of experience working in a residential setting, preferably with individuals with autism or related handicapping conditions. · At least 1-year clinical experience in a doctor’s office or hospital. · Excellent administrative and organizational skills required. · Intermediate knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel. Physical Requirements: · Ability to implement Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. · Lifting/Moving up to 50 lbs and lifting moving up to 100 plus lbs with assistance. · Ability to stand on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time. · Stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, kneeling, pushing and pulling may be required in this position. · Must be able to handle situations that may be stressful at times.
