Department: Cardiac Catheterization Lap-EP Daily Work Times: 7:00am-5:30pm Shift: Days Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours: 80 Position Summary: Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Assumes responsibility for a leadership role encompassing: Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice. Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care. Facilitates/participates in patient conferences. Identifies and provides the means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with the appropriate resource persons and attending discharge/transfer planning conferences. Assumes the responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital or elsewhere in the community. Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel. Precepts/mentors new employees and students. Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments. Qualifications: Required (Cardiac Cath) : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan Minimum one-year clinical experience in critical care area/special procedures/surgery and step-down cardiac care BLS Certification by American Heart Association or Red Cross Advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification Required (EP): Graduate of an accredited school or nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan Advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification Arrythmia Management Proficient in computer application Preferred (Cardiac Cath): Previous cardiac catheterization laboratory or CVH experience Six months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent preferred Bachelor's degree in Nursing E.P. experience for E.P. staff members only Dysrhythmia interpretation and management Preferred (EP): Advanced mapping experience Experience in EP Dysrhythmia interpretation and management Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Females/Disabled/Veterans We are committed to encouraging and sustaining a work environment free of unlawful harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation.
