The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Drug and Alcohol Service offers free, non-judgemental services and treatments for drug and/or alcohol use, including information and support for families. Our service offers specialist drug and alcohol doctors, nurses and allied health staff who respect the client’s right to choose from a range of treatments offered with our services underpinned by a philosophy of harm reduction.
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team located in the Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital. This position will provide high level of case management to patients of the service, including the administration of methadone and buprenorphine and Buprenorphine/Naloxone in accordance with the NSW Poisons Act (1966).
To work collaboratively with relevant members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of nursing care within the unit. We encourage you to apply now!!

Responsibilities
  • Current Nursing Registration (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated experience and clinical skills in Acute Medical / Mental Health Nursing as a Registered Nurse (including completion of a new graduate RN program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse) and a keen interest to learn and gain experience in Drug and Alcohol.
  • Demonstrated awareness of Drug and Alcohol dependence issues and Opioid Treatment Programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a multi-disiplinary team including Medical, Nursing, Allied Health and Community staff as well as General Practitioners, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to identify and resolve conflict situations by managing own emotional responses and interacting with others in a personable and professional manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible roster, day or evening shift across all days of the week according to the unit/service requirements.
  • Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
    Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
