CLINICAL SKILLS

• GP clinic experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Perform clinical duties according to best available evidence. Explain procedures to patients, duties include triage, immunisations and travel injections, wound management, chronic disease management & ECG’s. Assist doctors with clinical procedures. Maintain clinical documentation.
• Assist with data management, privacy & confidentiality, networking with providers, planning & management of patient care and patient advocacy. Telephone patients with test results as directed by doctors.
• Conduct preventative/screening procedures; assist with patient education and health promotion activities.
• Maintain stocks of clinical supplies, refrigeration cold chain, removal of out-of-date stock and ordering supplies.
• Maintain awareness of current and new legislation to ensure business is complying with all statutory and regulatory obligations including infection control, hazardous materials & safe handling/disposal of medical waste, records management, OHS, and accreditation.
• Act within the practice and nursing code of ethics & appropriate level of clinical competence at all times.

GENERAL SKILLS

• Possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
• GP nursing, Vaccine certification, Medicare item numbers & software knowledge is an advantage but not essential.
• Attention to detail, proactive and ability to multitask.
• Must be reliable and flexible.
• High level of attention to detail and time management skills.
• High standard of presentation.
• Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner.
• Schedule appointments, answer and respond to telephone enquires
• Liaising with doctors, staff and other allied health professionals.
• Managing internal / external correspondence, administrative daily routine tasks.
