The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Care or equivalent required
  • Current IV Therapy Certification required
  • Current ACLS certification required
  • Current Ventilator Care certification preferred (required within six (6) months)
  • Completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred or required within 6 months of hire
  • Completion of Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) preferred or required within 6 months of hire
  • Completion of current Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) preferred or required within 6 months of hire
  • Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention course within the last 2 years preferred
  • Current Hemodynamic Monitoring certification preferred (required within six (6) months) or equivalent
  • Current Epidural Care certification preferred (required within six (6) months)
  • Current Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy certification preferred (required after two (2) years)
  • Post graduate education in Critical Care preferred
  • BScN preferred
  • Completion of the Canadian Triage Acuity Scale course preferred or required within 3-6 months of hire
  • Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Certification in Critical Care/Emergency Nursing preferred
Responsibilities
  • Provides appropriate nursing care to Intensive Care and Emergency patients within critical high stress situations and varying environments
  • Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
  • Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
  • Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new staff and students
  • Other related duties as assigned
