REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan (RN)
  • Three (3) years out of the last five (5) years of RN experience with adult patients in a medical/surgical inpatient unit or Medical Specialties Ambulatory Care Clinic setting
  • Proficiency with MiChart inbasket management and documentation of patient encounters in electronic health record, e.g., Epic as indicated by interviews, references, and/or performance evaluations in past 3 out of 5 years of RN experience.
  • Experience providing patient/family education in past 3 out of 5 years of RN experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by interviews, evaluations, and reference in past 3 out of 5 years of RN experience.
Responsibilities
  • Provide the delivery of culturally sensitive, age-specific team-based care models in delivering expert nursing care to Adult Medical Specialty patients and Psychiatry Clinic patients across the pediatric and adult age continuum.
  • Perform telephone triage, including assessment, screening, and clinical advice; direct patient care including injections, patient education, documentation with follow up and coordination with ancillary services and related departments, and other duties as assigned
  • Provide functional supervision to allied health staff.
  • Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care.
  • Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources, including UMH policies and protocols.
  • Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel; collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and health care/community services to promote continuity of care for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Independently and completely performs focused assessment to provide best practice patient care for patients and families as appropriate.
  • Actively participate and support performance improvement activities related to self, clinic, department, and institutional goals and objectives.
