Operating within the Seniors, Emergency, and Community Medicine Program, the CTU Medicine Unit (E3) is a clinical teaching unit that cares for patients with serious medical conditions. The interdisciplinary care team supports a primarily geriatric patient population with multi-system chronic illnesses. As a valued member of the CTU Medicine healthcare team, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides leadership in the coordination of nursing care for patients with multisystem medical conditions including Diabetes, Dementia, Stroke and Acute Coronary syndromes. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team and community agencies, the RN provides compassionate and dedicated quality care for patients and their families. In accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards and HHS’ mission, vision, values and policies, the RN improves the health of our patients and residents through their evidence-based clinical practice and leadership in healthcare delivery. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification Previous related experience in either acute medicine or geriatric care Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, decision-making, communication, organizational, problem identification and problem-solving skills Knowledge of the current nursing assessment and management of adult and geriatric medicine patients, including rehabilitative approaches to patient care Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and shifting demands
