QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current registration and certification of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Undergraduate degree in Nursing preferred)
  • Current BCLS certification

EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NRP) certification
  • Trauma Nursing Critical Care (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification
  • Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Paediatric Course (ENPC) certification
  • Canadian Emergency Triage and Acuity Scale training
  • Current knowledge of Emergency Nursing standards in accordance with National Emergency Nurses Affiliation (NENA)
  • Delegated Medical Acts: Defibrillation, External Pacing, and Medical Directives for the administration of Life Saving Drugs and I.V. Initiation
  • Cardiac Arrhythmia and ECG Interpretation and Monitoring
  • Code White certification
  • Minimum of 2 (two) years of recent emergency nursing experience
  • Experience in the management of patient’s requiring the following: Epidural Catheter, Chest Tube, Central Line, Mechanical Ventilation, and Pain and Sedation assessment and intervention
  • Well-developed patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills
  • Computer literacy and Meditech knowledge and experience

  • Ability to organize related activities; to remain flexible; and adapt to crisis situations and rapid change
  • Ability to manage a variety of patient conditions
  • Sound critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution and timely decision making skills
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team to provide optimal patient care
  • Strong interpersonal, critical thinking and verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills
  • Self-directed, motivated team player with a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and extended or innovative shifts as assigned
  • Good attendance and work record is essential
