Overview This Registered Nurse (RN), Float Pool will support for our Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology practice. This role provides expert nursing care to women across the reproductive lifespan, with a focus on high-risk pregnancies and complex OB/GYN conditions. Responsibilities include patient education, coordination of care, assistance with in-office procedures, triage, and support during diagnostic testing (e.g. NSTs). This is a part-time, temporary hourly wage position. Responsibilities Facilitate patient care in the clinic setting. Recognize medical situations specific to Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Correlate the patient’s clinical history with fetal monitoring results and recognized signs and symptoms of maternal/fetal compromise. Institute appropriate nursing actions for referral. Perform ante partum fetal testing to include non-stress testing and contraction stress testing. Determine the technical adequacy of each test and independently assesses appropriateness of each patient’s testing based on established policies and protocols. Recognize normal versus abnormal results; prepare accurate, readable report of the test; contact physician when necessary. Coordinate additional care for ante partum patients to include follow-up testing or procedures, scheduling, physician’s orders, and hospital admissions. Perform nurse intakes for new obstetrical patients. Contribute to the well-being of patients by serving as a positive role model and demonstrating a professional, caring attitude, and behavior towards co-workers, patients, and guests. Monitor task queues and contact patients with test results. Answer the Triage line, record calls and return patient and physician calls in a timely manner. Minimum one year clinical experience caring for patients with high risk obstetric patients and minimum one year experience in fetal monitoring preferred. Must have a valid Virginia license as a Professional Registered Nurse.
