How you make a difference:
The Float Nurse is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for providing patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They work under the supervision of Charge Nurses to direct and guide patient activities and teaching based on their education and competencies. The Float Nurse RN assists in ensuring high-quality patient care and helps maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of a Charge Nurse and Director of Nursing (DON).
  • Implements individualized treatment programs, including medication administration and obtaining diagnostic tests, while adhering to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Participates in medical and surgical procedures as necessary, and implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans.
  • Reviews medical records and documents nursing encounters using the SOAP format to ensure compliance with state guidelines.
  • Communicates information to nursing staff, physicians, and other personnel as necessary, and attends mandatory meetings and training sessions.

Additional Details: RN needed to 20hrs weekly, 4 days a week 3pm-8pm
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing

Experience

  • One (1) or more years clinical experience required
  • One (1) or more years correctional healthcare experience preferred
  • Must be willing and able to travel 100% of the time to sites within the designated region

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) within the states of practice and the state in which you work, or a valid compact state nurse license
  • Current CPR certification
