Description NOTE THIS IS FOR FULL TIME OR PART TIME EMPLOYEMENT. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure medical services are adequately provided for the student population. Essential responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: 1. Review youth complaints of illness / medical concerns that was provided by LPN and ensure appropriate nursing care was provided as outlined in policy. 2. Ensure all youth upon admission were screened for health-related conditions as outlined in policy by reviewing youth chart(s). 3. When feasible shall participate in treatment team meetings and multi – disciplinary case staffing as needed when LPN is not available. 4. Assist LPN in ordering and maintaining adequate supply of medication as outlined in policy. 5. Complete all required paperwork as outlined or required by Florida Statute, rule, or program policy/procedure. 6. Effectively communicate youth medical issues and /or concerns with the Designated Medical Authority. 7. Review “Sick Calls” and assist LPN to coordinate doctor’s appointments, physicals, and other necessary medical services as needed. 8. Review and assist in maintenance of youth’s medical files in accordance with DJJ standards. 9. Monitor and review the Medication Administration Records “MARs” weekly. 10. Assist in conducting periodic healthcare emergency disaster preparedness drills. 11. Inspect and stock First Aid kits monthly. 12. Shall actively participate in the implementation of Quality Improvement revisions. 13. Effectively communicate medical information and concerns with other employees. 14. If needed, will provide emergency First Aid and CPR in accordance with American Red Cross Standards. 15. Attend and participate in all required meetings and trainings. 16. Adhere to all program policy and procedures relevant to this Job Description. 17. Shall review and monitor the medical alert process as outlined in program policy. 18. Shall provide health education to staff and student population. 19. Assume other duties and responsibilities as directed or needed for efficient operations of the program. Requirements General Requirements: Registered Nurse credentials in the state of Florida required. Certification in CPR, First Aid by a nationally recognized organization (Red Cross, AHA). Current state driver’s license Registered Nurse Degree from an accredited college / university Meet criminal background check and drug screening per state requirements. Significant experience working in the medical field.
