Description
As a member of the Thrombosis Services multidisciplinary team at the Juravinski Site and working within medical directives the nurse consults, coordinates, implements, and evaluates a range of inpatient and outpatient care activities to support the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients at risk for venous thromboembolism. 1. Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse 2. Demonstrated recent (minimum 2 years) experience in coordinating care for medically complex patients with venous thromboembolic disorder or at for risk for thromboembolic disorders 3. Recent 2 years experience (within the last 2 years) in critical care nursing 4. Demonstrated expert application of current theoretical, professional, and practical developments specific to venous thromboembolism 5. Demonstrated knowledge of patient research process, methods, and techniques gained either through university course work or in a Clinical Research Nurse role 6. Demonstrated expertise in physical assessment, history taking, patient education, and counselling as these relate to thromboembolic disorders 7. Demonstrated effective critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills 8. Demonstrated ability to recognize and triage emergent situations 9. Demonstrated proficiency in writing at an advanced level; e.g. University course work 10. Experienced in using Patient Care Inquiry and Order Entry modules of Meditech 11. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of a multidisciplinary team with a shared goal of achieving excellence in both clinical practice and research activities 12. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, and public relations skills 13. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly in a busy environment 14. Demonstrated ability to liaise with a range of hospital staff effectively and collaboratively
