Description
As a member of this specialty unit providing critical services, the PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementation and assessment of the post anesthetic patient care. 1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse 2. Current BCLS and ACLS certification 3. Recent (within last 2 years) ECG interpretation experience 4. Peri-anesthesia Nursing Course 5. Recent (within last 2 years) experience in surgical nursing 6. Demonstrated knowledge of anesthetic techniques and procedures and their implications for nursing assessment and practice 7. Demonstrated knowledge of post-anesthesia assessment and management of adults, including airway management, invasive cardiac monitoring, pain management and invasive pressure line monitoring 8. Current vascular access certification 9. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high patient turnover environment 10. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills 11. Demonstrated critical-thinking and decision-making in assessment and problem identification 12. Evidence of commitment to professional practice and ongoing continuing education 13. Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in the assessment and management of patients with acute pain preferred
