STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • A graduate from an approved School of Nursing (university or community college) with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support BCLS.
  • Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner SANE-A Certification.
  • Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner SANE-P or must be obtained within one (1) year.
  • Criminal record check satisfactory to the Hospital.
  • A valid driver’s license with access to vehicle.
  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years full-time equivalent experience (within the last 5 years) in any acute care and/or mental health nursing related areas.
  • Proven ability to complete a thorough physical assessment and recognize deviations of the normal.
  • Proven ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of projects.

GENERAL SKILLS:

  • Therapeutic patient teaching/communication skills with children, adolescence and adults.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to critical think and problem-solve.
  • willingness to learn and work in a sensitive, non-judgmental capacity
  • Ability to respond within 45 minutes of an emergency call.
  • Evidence of working collaboratively with other providers and agencies to deliver coordinated care.
  • Ability to work in a minimally or unsupervised capacity.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office software, Meditech Client Service OE, and GRASP software.
