Job Details Job Location: Multiple Locations - N/A, GA 30601 Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: $35.00 Position summary: under general supervision, provides general direct nursing care to injured, ill, convalescent, or disabled individuals. Care includes providing medical treatments, administering medication, giving injections, and completing assessments, providing direct, technical nursing care functions in accordance with individual nursing care plans and as directed by attending physician to clients with IDD and/or behavioral health and/or substance use disorders in an outpatient setting. Care includes conducting initial and on-going nursing assessments, behavioral health assessments (as needed), administering medications including injections, assisting with client bridge requests, etc. Responsibilities and Duties Include: Assures treatment planning, discharge planning, and orders for services are determined and complete with second signatures (if needed). Demonstrates decision making that is clinically sound, systematic, timely, well researched and reflects awareness of impact and governed by state and Agency practices. Provides education to the client about medications and treatment. Informs, explains, and educates individual and family members regarding medications, relevant treatment information, and disease processes. Explains medication and treatment to the client. Identifies clients health education/information needs; instructs clients accordingly. Solicits feedback from clients to verify understand. Advises clients on health maintenance and refers client to other health care services as appropriate. Administers medication(s) in the proper methods, time, and dosage as ordered and indicated by prescriber. This can include both oral and injection medications. Observes and records client response to medication for side effects or adverse effects; immediately reports any significant reactions to attending prescriber. Conducts and records audits of medications for expiration dates and other data according to established guidelines. Calls in prescriptions ordered by physicians as needed. Performs technical nursing skills within the scope of practice for a RN and in accordance with Agency policies and procedures for individual and/or multiple individual assignments. Takes vital signs and performs other tests (such as glucose monitoring), as required by the prescriber following established guidelines. Documents observations of individual signs, symptoms, test results, behaviors and response to medications and treatments Documents relevant information regarding nursing care in individual records, charts, and reports. Provides initial and on-going assessments. Interviews client to obtain thorough medical history and/or determine extent of illness. Enters this into client chart for use by prescriber. Complies with established Agency policies/procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies, and performance contract documentation requirements. Responds to clients in acute distress according to established guidelines. Demonstrates behaviors that promote development of positive outcomes in relation to the practice of professional nursing Utilizes a problem-solving approach as the basis for decision making in practice, including reporting relevant information to other members of the health care team, or supervising Registered Nurse/Physician. Provides to other members of the health care team, health education and information on disease processes and medications to meet/address consumer health care needs. Provides ethical nursing care in a confidential, caring, non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner. Performs related work as assigned. Adapts to changing work requirements and flexible schedules to accommodate client needs. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications RN: Current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Nurse Sample Technical Competencies: 1. Ability to identify medication 2. Ability to assist physician 3. Ability to convey patients information to physician 4. Skill in routine medical procedures, i.e.: applying bandages and/or tourniquets, giving injections, measuring temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, etc. 5. Ability to maintain accurate medical records of treatments, medications, symptoms, and patient conditions
