The Clinical Nurse II, Oncology is a Registered Nurse who delivers direct care to assigned Oncology patients in an ambulatory setting. Nursing care is delivered using standards of care by following approved policies and procedures. Utilizing appropriate decision making skills exhibits competence in the technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to independently and safely manage routine patient assignment. The Clinical Nurse II, Oncology establishes a plan of care, sets goals, determines priorities, and provides care within established standards of practice. Primary Duties and Responsibilities * Assesses appropriately patient care needs and learning needs in routine oncology patient populations. * Reviews lab diagnostic data and incorporates in assessment * Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monitoring to maintain or improve care of Oncology patient population * Plans patient care and education based on disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, complications of treatment, and psycho-social needs in collaboration with other healthcare team members * Initiates and follows through with appropriate referrals to other interdisciplinary healthcare team members * Demonstrates competency in use of technical skills as required (i.e., IV therapy equipment utilization, universal precautions, body mechanics) * Establish IV access utilizing peripheral or central catheters per protocol. Drug should only be prepared once an IV access is established and labs verified * Administer IV therapy as ordered by MD * Assists as a chaperone when needed upon completion of the required Chaperone Training Cedars-Sinai is a leader in providing high-quality healthcare encompassing primary care, specialized medicine and research.
